Do It. Guillermo del Toro and 'Cronos' at Amoeba.

I was mesmerized the first time I watched Pan's Labyrinth -- the imagination, the creepiness. And even though I'm not usually a fan of horror movies, I'm curious enough to want to look into Guillermo del Toro's past works, the horror films that, despite never reaching popularity like his later Hellboy films, are widely acclaimed by critics.

One such film is actually del Toro's feature debut Cronos. It's supposed to be a creepy tale following an antiques dealer who comes upon a sinister device shaped like a scarab. The film is getting the ultimate cult-lover treatment by getting released on Criterion next week, and to celebrate, Amoeba is hosting a meet-and-greet with the filmmaker, followed by a screening of Cronos and a never-before-released short film from del Toro. To get in on the festivities, be sure to buy a copy of the new Criterion release starting tomorrow at Amoeba, and then you'll get a ticket for the signing and screenings taking place on Dec. 7th at 5pm.

Check out a mini-scene from the movie here.

And while you're at Amoeba, take part in its annual holiday toy drive by bringing in a new, unwrapped toy for children aged 7 to teenagers, and you can get $2 off any purchase!

Amoeba Music is located at 6400 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood.
